Former India cricketers Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir got into a violent argument on December 6 during the Eliminator between the Gujarat Giants and India Capitals.

The event occurred in the game’s second over, when Gambhir hammered Sreesanth for a maximum over deep mid-wicket. He followed it with a spectacular off-drive for a boundary to take the race to double figures.

Sreesanth produced a wide delivery in response, leading Gambhir to dab the ball straight to a fielder at short cover. Sreesanth then appeared to instigate the batter by saying something to which Gambhir instantly responded. The southpaw, however, immediately regained his calm and resumed his inning.

Gautam Gambhir, on the other hand, seemed unfazed by the incident and smashed an important 51 off 30 deliveries. The India Capitals skipper hit seven boundaries and a six to help his team reach a huge 223/7 in 20 overs.

In response, Chris Gayle put up a brave effort, scoring 84 off 55 balls, but the Gujarat Giants fell short by 12 runs.

As a consequence, the Capitals progressed to face the Manipal Tigers in Qualifier 2. The game’s winner will face the Urbanisers Hyderabad in the grand finals.

Thursday, December 7, is the day of the second qualifier. On Saturday, December 9, the final is scheduled.

Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth were pivotal for India’s victory at the inaugural T20 World cup South Africa, 2007.

Gambhir was the second highest scorer of the tournament scoring total 227 runs at an average of 37.83 including 3 half centuries. On the other hand, Sreesanth managed to pick six wickets off seven games.

The pair’s performance in the knockout games was critical to Team India’s victory. Against Australia in the semi-finals, the pacer recorded figures of 2/12 in four overs to assist India move to the final.

Gambhir grabbed center stage in the final against Pakistan, scoring a magnificent 54-ball 75 on a two-paced Wanderers pitch to enable India post a competitive 157/5 in 20 overs. The Men in Blue won the game by five runs off the last ball, claiming their second World Cup victory and their first in the T20 format.
