Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill feels that his partnership with Vijay Shankar during their IPL 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru was greatly disliked. It could be the most unpopular such alliance in the tournament’s history.

RCB required victory in their final league fixture versus GT to advance to the playoffs. However, Gill struck a fantastic century. He and Shankar combined for a scorching 123-run second wicket stand off 71 deliveries, powering an exceptional 198-run chase.

Vijay Shankar produced 53 runs off 35 balls, and Shubman Gill was in awe of the way he batted, admitting that Mohammed Siraj informed him that RCB were furious with the all-rounder’s performance. This is what he said in a video:

“I think this is the most hated partnership in the IPL (laughs with Vijay Shankar). Even in the Indian team, Siraj told me that they don’t talk about my innings as much as they do about Vijay. He was playing anything.”

Shubman Gill

Gill had a great IPL 2023 season, scoring a whopping 890 runs in 17 matches, including three centuries and four fifties. GT narrowly lost the final against the Chennai Super Kings on the last ball.

Shubman Gill scored 89 runs not out, from 59 balls, in the last match against Punjab Kings. The Titans lost that game. But Gill played well and got a good score that helped the team.

With the departure of Hardik Pandya and the absence of David Miller, GT’s batting appears to lack the experience required, making Gill’s contribution even more important.

In five innings this season, the GT captain has scored 183 runs at an average of 45.75. To go farther in the competition, the Titans will most likely need Gill to hit at least 600 runs.
