While the discussion primarily revolved around the game, Shami playfully inquired about Siraj’s wicket-taking celebration, which often involves imitating Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “Siiiiu” celebration.
During their conversation, Shami asked Siraj about the inspiration behind his celebration. In response, Siraj revealed that he was a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and tried to emulate his celebration style when he took a wicket. However, he refrained from doing so if the dismissal occurred at certain fielding positions.
Shami then offered valuable advice to his colleague, suggesting that he should avoid making such jumps in his celebration as a fast bowler. He said, “I want to give you some advice. It’s great that you are a fan of someone, but as a fast bowler, you should avoid such jumps.”
In the 1st ODI, Shami was the most economical bowler for India, conceding only 17 runs in six overs with two maidens. He took the crucial wickets of Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, and Marcus Stoinis.
Meanwhile, Siraj bowled only 5.4 overs as Australia’s innings ended. He picked up three wickets, including Travis Head, Sean Abbott, and Adam Zampa, while conceding 29 runs.
