Delhi Capitals (DC) player Shai Hope was out by a run out in the IPL 2024 game versus Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday (May 7). The match is happening at Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi tonight.

Shai Hope came to bat after the first wicket fell in the fifth over. Unfortunately, Shai Hope could score only one run before getting dismissed through a run out at the non-striker’s end.

In the match, Abishek Porel hit the ball straight on the first delivery. Sandeep Sharma, the bowler, tried to stop it. But the ball hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end after getting deflected. Shai Hope was too far outside the crease. So when the ball knocked the bails off, he was out.

After being asked to bat first, DC got off to a fast start thanks to pyrotechnics from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel on the powerplay. Jake was especially tough on Avesh Khan, hitting him for 28 runs in the fourth over. He scored his half-century before being dismissed in the following over after failing to catch Ravichandran Ashwin’s full toss.

Porel, Jake’s opening partner, proceeded at the other end and went on to score a superb half-century, while DC lost a pair of fast wickets in the middle overs. Axar Patel (15) and Rishabh Pant (15) received starts but failed to convert, putting the onus on Tristan Stubbs to produce a solid end to the innings.

The South African batsman did not disappoint, smashing three sixes and as many fours on his way to 41 (20), helping the Capitals to a mammoth total of 221. Ravichandran Ashwin claimed three wickets for RR in the bowling department.

During the mid-innings break, he pondered on the activity that occurred during the first innings, saying:

“I would say 220 is about par. We have to bat well because they have Kuldeep and Axar. How we bat against them and in the powerplay will decide (the run-chase). We will get a lot more of those (wickets of full tosses) In modern day T20, those that were good balls earlier are not good balls anymore.”
