Gujarat Titans’ batter Sudharsan displayed faulty judgment. This resulted in an unlucky run out. The GT-DC match was on Wednesday, April 17, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
The hosts were already two behind, and Sai Sudharsan needed to turn his start into a massive score to help them reach a competitive total. However, Sumit Kumar’s excellent fielding resulted in the southpaw being run out.
Sai Sudharsan tapped Ishant Sharma’s delivery to the leg side and called on the non-striker to hit a fast single. Sumit, on the other hand, sprinted from the short midwicket zone and completed a fantastic pick-up-and-throw to land a direct hit at the non-striker’s end. He caught Sai Sudharsan easily short of the crease.
Here is the video of the dismissal:
Despite the full-length dive, Sai Sudharsan’s body language suggested that he had not made it in time. He got dismissed for nine off twelve balls. The hosts suffered a setback as they attempted to rebound after losing both openers.
DC running riot in Ahmedabad as GT continue to collapse
Sai Sudharsan’s run-out summarizes Gujarat’s innings thus far. They have unable to gain any momentum, losing wickets on a frequent basis. At the time of writing, they were 71-7 after 13 overs, with Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma at the crease.
DC veteran bowler Ishant Sharma supplied an early big strike for opposition captain Shubman Gill (8), while Mukesh Kumar terminated Wriddhiman Saha’s (2) wretched spell at the crease.
Rishabh Pant’s spectacular catch ended David Miller’s (2) innings, as replays indicate he received an inside edge before the ball ricocheted off his back leg and went to the wicketkeeper.
Pant also contributed to the following two dismissals, stumping Abhinav Manohar (8) and Shahrukh Khan (0), as his decision to bowl Tristan Stubbs proved to be a masterstroke. Axar Patel then pulled Rahul Tewatia (10), putting GT in even more danger.
Gujarat now requires Rashid Khan to bat deep and give its bowlers a fighting chance. DC, on the other hand, is all on the hosts like a rash and will want to get them out quickly.
