Indian captain Rohit Sharma was caught on video humorously copying teammate Virat Kohli’s intense celebration from a recent BCCI awards event. This video has rapidly spread on social media.

A handful of current and past Indian cricketers received accolades during the awards event in Hyderabad on Tuesday, January 23. In a popular video clip from the ceremony, Rohit Sharma warmly mimics his teammates and their famous behaviors.

Starting with his own pull shot, he tried to mimic Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling movement and Suryakumar Yadav’s supla shot before executing a comical impression of Virat Kohli celebrating a wicket in his aggressive mode.

Furthermore, the Indian skipper successfully replicated MS Dhoni’s legendary helicopter shot and was spotted bowing like Shubman Gill before concluding his performance with his rendition of Sachin Tendulkar’s upper-cut.

Rohit Sharma takes the lead for India’s team in the first Test against England in Hyderabad. Kohli stepped back from the first two Tests, giving personal reasons. The Indian captain got out at 24 on the first day, but the home-team holds a strong position in the Test.

After losing the toss, they bowled first and restricted England to 246 in 64.3 overs, with spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja taking three wickets apiece. Axar Patel and Bumrah shared the rest.

At the close of Day 2, India reached 421-7, leading by a substantial 175 runs in the first innings. KL Rahul contributed 86 runs from 123 balls, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal hit 80 from 74 balls.

By the end of Day 2, Jadeja had scored 81 from 155 balls and Axar was at 35 off 62. In the mix, Srikar Bharat (41) and Shreyas Iyer (35) added valuable scores too.

Before the Hyderabad Test, Rohit Sharma, the captain, confessed that the team’s failure to clinch an ICC event in the last ten years has been upsetting. Despite this, he strongly declared the squad’s uninterrupted effort and expressed confidence that their ‘time will come’.

“The last three years have been great. Except winning the finals of ICC trophies, we have won everything. That’s one thing we’ve not been able to accomplish, but I think time will come.

“All we need to do is stay in a good mindset, not worry too much about the past, because you can’t change the past.”
