Team India captain Rohit Sharma has reached England with the rest of the squad to begin preparations for the WTC final against Australia in 2023.

The first group of Team India players arrived in England following the conclusion of the IPL 2023 league stage. Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, and a few more players were already in India before the IPL playoffs began.

Rohit Sharma travelled to London for the next match against Australia after the Mumbai Indians were eliminated in the playoffs. Jaydev Unadkat, Yashashvi Jaiswal, and a few more players joined him on the side.

BCCI tweeted to update fans on Rohit Sharma’s arrival in England with the rest of the squad. They posted the following post with the caption

“I’d be going with Ishan Kishan if I was them in this game” – Ricky Ponting picks his Team India wicketkeeper for WTC 2023 final

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has chosen Ishan Kishan to replace Srikar Bharat on the Indian team for the WTC final.

Ponting recently discussed Team India’s next Test against Australia on the ICC Review podcast, predicting that Ishan Kishan may be an X-factor for the subcontinental side.

He stated:

“I’d pick Ishan Kishan. If you want to be crowned the world champion, you have to win the game. Hence why there is a sixth day that has been added to try and give both teams the best chance of a result. I’d be going with Ishan Kishan if I was them in this game. I think it just provides that little bit of X-factor that you might need when pushing for a win in a Test match.”

India and Australia will compete in the 2023 WTC final, which begins on June 8 at the Oval.
