Ravichandran Ashwin from India’s cricket team praised Rinku Singh. He mentioned Rinku reminded him of ‘a left-handed Dhoni’ due to his composed batting in challenging situations. Although Ashwin clarified there’s no exact comparison to MD Dhoni, many have noticed Rinku’s cool, focused approach – a trait Dhoni is famous for.

After a remarkable performance in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Rinku Singh earned his spot in India’s T20I team. He significantly showcased his talent as a finisher. In an unforgettable T20I against Afghanistan in Bengaluru, he scored an impressive 69* runs in 39 balls. With captain Rohit Sharma, they added a solid 190 runs without losing a wicket, substantially elevating India’s position from a shaky 22/4.

Ravichandran Ashwin gave the hard-hitting left-handed hitter a lot of appreciation during his remarks on his YouTube Video.

“He is somebody I’d call a left-handed Dhoni. I can’t compare him to Dhoni just yet because Dhoni is too big. But, I am talking about the composure that he brings. He has been consistently scoring buckets of runs for UP and broke his way into the Indian team.”

Giving a brief account of the 26-year-old’s devotion, he disclosed how the cricket player kept himself occupied while waiting on the Kolkata Knight Riders bench.

“He was on the KKR bench for many years. People used to tell me that, when he was at KKR, even though he couldn’t get the chance to bat at practice, he collected all the balls that batters hit in throwdowns and gave them back to the bowler.”

“Since then, he has been with the franchise for so long, put in the hard work for UP and showed that he’s always available to get to the Indian team out of a tricky situation or finish an innings. The composure doesn’t change whether the team is batting first or chasing. His composure towards the back end of the innings is a bonus.”
