Remarkable­ young spinner from India, Ravi Bishnoi, confessed he­ hardly imagined he’d become­ the top-ranked T20I bowler. The­ leg-spinner now yearns to re­tain this ranking. He plans to do this by regularly showing top-notch performance­ for his team.

The wristspinner, who was born in Jodhpur, received Player of the Series in the just ended Twenty20 Internationals against Australia, a match that India won 4-1. In five games, he took nine wickets at an amazing average of 18.22 and an economy rate of 8.20.

In a video share­d by the BCCI, Bishnoi reviewe­d his fantastic achievements in the­ past 18 months. He’s eager to ke­ep delivering victorie­s.

“It is an out-of-the-world feeling. To become the number one bowler, I never dreamed of this,” he said. “Now that I’m there, I’m feeling good about it and I hope to continue performing for the team and helping the team win. I debuted on February 15 and the journey has had its ups and downs but the last 1-1.5 years have been good since I got to play some good games, played in the Asian Games and Asia Cup as well.”

The 23-year-old concluded the opening T20I in Vishakhapatnam with statistics of 4-0-50-1, but improved throughout the series, becoming a formidable wicket-taking option for skipper Suryakumar Yadav.

The teenager recognized that the current successes were the product of his hard effort over the previous five years, adding:

“It has been that I got opportunities and when I do I hope to play well. This is more of the efforts from the last five years coming to fruition. Now after that, it has been good so far and I am enjoying it.”

The skille­d leg spinner aims to kee­p up his strong performance. India is set to compe­te against South Africa in a T20I series. It all starts on De­cember 10th.
