Suryakumar Yadav captained Team India for the first time after the 2023 ODI World Cup in the absence of senior figures. He helped India win the series 4-1 at home, but he returned with a mediocre set of performances as a hitter.

With the game-winning 80 to start the series, the right-handed hitter gave India their best-ever T20I run chase (209). He failed not score in double digits in the final two games and managed just 64 runs in the final four games.
