During a team dinner and party, the new players for the IPL 2023 season were welcomed by the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Kumar Sangakkara, the head coach of the Royals, gave the opening remarks at a team dinner hosted by the franchise. Before that, some older players, including Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, and Navdeep Saini, gave an introduction and a welcome note to all the new players.

Rajasthan has a strong unit this time and bought the likes of Joe Root, Adam Zampa and Jason Holder, among others, in the IPL 2023 auction. Captained by Sanju Samson, Rajasthan will once again hope to start positively and get a deep run in the tournament.

Ahead of the first game, Rajasthan head coach Kumar Sangakkara addressed a press conference, saying that the franchise’s recruit Joe Root has a role to play as his game against spin and pace & his abilities as an offspinner is valuable for the team.

“Joe Root is a great player. He is an all-format player. He had a great T20 outing in India, where they lost to West Indies in finals (2016 T20 World Cup), & a great outing in UAE (ILT20). He has a role to play for the team at the start of specific matches. We value his game against spin & pace and the fact that he is one smart offspinner. A few aspects of his game will come in handy for us.”

Rajasthan Royals has also uploaded a promo ahead of their first game, where coach Kumar Sangakkara can be heard firing up the squad with an inspiring speech. Sangakkara, in his remarks, mentioned that they came close to winning the title last season as they finished second, but it does not stop there.
