Rachin Ravindra, a young New Zealand wonder, is having a fantastic time in the 2023 World Cup and will now be recognized with the ICC Men’s Player of the Month title for October 2023.

In the first game of the competition, the teenager had to fill the large shoes of Kane Williamson at No. 3, which he accomplished well with a spectacular 123* against England. He hit another century (116) against Australia, this time in a lengthy chase in which the Kiwis came close to winning.

Rachin Ravindra scored 481 runs in six games in October 2023, which enabled him beat out the other contenders for the award, Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah and South African opener Quinton de Kock.

Ravindra is overjoyed to have earned the prize, and the ICC cited him as saying:

“I’m very grateful to win this award. It’s been a special month personally and for the team. Being able to play a World Cup in India has been incredibly special.”

Rachin Ravindra expressed gratitude to the New Zealand team management for believing in him to bat in the top order. He also discussed how the pitches in Indian conditions aid his batting strategy.

In response, he told the cricketing global body:

“Being backed by the team helps a lot, being able to go out there with a lot of freedom, and play your natural game. The lucky thing is the wickets have been really nice to bat on, suits my game in terms of being positive and taking the game on.”
