Rachin Ravindra, the opener for New Zealand, recently went to his grandparents’ home in Bengaluru. He has been in the city for the past week, having attended New Zealand’s final two 2023 World Cup league matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Kiwis lost to Pakistan on November 4, but on Thursday they defeated Sri Lanka handily to go one step closer to claiming a semi-final position.

In excellent form for the New Zealand squad is Rachin Ravindra. He has scored 565 runs in nine games, making him the tournament’s top run scorer right now. He also contributes significantly to the Blackcaps.

When Rachin was in Bengaluru, he went to see his grandparents. To give everyone an idea of his off-field pursuits.

Rachin recently discussed his Indian heritage and said that he is now 100% Kiwi during a press conference. He did, however, voice his joy at having been to India and excelling where his parents had grown up. Added Rachin:

“Oh, well, I think, I’ve been asked this question a lot, but I guess I’m 100% Kiwi and I’m very proud of my Indian heritage. But I guess it’s proud to be able to do it in the country where my parents were born and where they grew up and where a lot of my family is.”

Regarding the support and playing conditions in India, Rachin Ravindra added:

“I think, obviously the conditions, it’s good for batting and being able to come to India previously on tours and trying to not perfect my game but I try get better. I guess that that helps in a way.

“As a kid, you always dream of the crowd chanting your name and it was cool to see them do that on multiple occasions. So, I think it’s always special, you sort of soak in those moments and hopefully we never really take them for granted.”
