SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain and birthday boy Pat Cummins matched his teammates’ fielding efforts by hitting a superb straight hit to remove Lucknow Suepr Giants (LSG) all-rounder Krunal Pandya in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Pat Cummins’ superb expulsion helped SRH put more pressure on the visitors in the vital match.

KL Rahul’s decision to bowl first placed the SunRisers in charge from the start. They sustained the pressure in the middle overs following a successful powerplay with the ball. LSG were seeking for any kind of cooperation to help them rebuild their innings after establishing the groundwork. However, by hitting at regular intervals, SRH prevented the opposition from gaining momentum.

Krunal Pandya tried a fast single in the 12th over, pushing a T Natarajan delivery to mid-off. Pat Cummins, who was not near the edge of the circle, raced in, threw the ball fast, and executed the direct shot, completely uprooting the middle stump.

Replays revealed that Krunal Pandya was considerably short of his crease and had to leave after hitting 24 runs off 21 deliveries.

SRH had an immediate impact with their fielding in the continuing match. First, Nitish Kumar Reddy took a superb catch near the boundary to remove Quinton de Kock. Then, Sanvir Singh made a wonderful catch at midfield to put Marcus Stoinis back into the powerplay.

Those bursts of brilliance have had a significant influence on the proceedings on a slow surface where every run counts. Aside from his straight shot, Pat Cummins took KL Rahul’s wicket in the second over of his delivery.
