Paras Mhambrey, India’s bowling coach, complimented Jasprit Bumrah after his remarkable bowling performance on Day 3 of the Hyderabad Test against England. This performance helped India stay ahead even after Ollie Pope’s standout century for England.

The first innings of India wrapped up at 436, and England dipped to a score of 163/5. Despite this, Pope (148* off 208) gave England a lift, scoring a noteworthy hundred. By the end of Day 3, England secured a 126 runs lead with a score of 316/6 in the second innings.

Before, Bumrah played a crucial role in getting key players Ben Duckett and Joe Root out, pressuring England. Post-third day’s play, Mhambrey acknowledged Bumrah’s significant efforts.

“Bumrah was bowling very well and was moving the ball both ways. That’s the quality he has. He is a special bowler and we have seen what he can do in overseas conditions. He has not played much (Test) cricket in India. Every time he turns up, he gives his best. Its pure skills.”

The former India bowler also lauded Bumrah for his positive effect in the locker room.

“The dressing room conversations he has, the energy he brings on to the field…he is a part of the discussion when the captain and support staff are around, he’s right there with all suggestions.”

Furthermore, Mhambrey allayed fears regarding Bumrah’s fitness. The fast bowler was observed taking medication near the close of the day’s play, but his coach stressed that he was only suffering from cramps.

When asked about their preparations for Day 4, the Indian bowling coach said they don’t have any specific objectives in mind, but they would try to get the remaining England wickets as soon as possible.

“We are not looking at a particular target as our objective is to come tomorrow [Sunday] and bowl well in the morning, try to get early wickets as quickly as possible and limit the total. So we are not putting us under any sort of pressure by giving a target.”

When questioned whether the pitch provides aid to bowlers, Paras Mhambrey added:

“It still has something for the bowlers. If you look at the last session and the last few overs there is still little turn from the stump line. It will be the same tomorrow [Sunday] and won’t change much. The pace got a little bit slower and was easier to negotiate the turn but still enough to keep the bowlers in.”

On Day 3, England headed to stumps with Rehan Ahmed (16* off 31) to keep Pope company.
