The skipper of Karnataka, Mayank Agarwal, ended up in a hospital after feeling unwell on the brink of his flight to New Delhi. It appears he mistakenly drank a substance, believing it was water. The sidelined Indian Test leadoff man has now filed a formal complaint about this situation.

Speaking to PTI in Agartala, Kiran Kumar, SP West Tripura, said:

“Mayank Agarwal, an international cricket player. Now he is stable and his vitals are normal. But his manager has lodged a specific complaint under NCCPS (New Capital Complex Police Station) to investigate the matter.”

Kumar elaborated on the situation, stating that Agarwal’s management informed them that after eating the drinks in flight, the batsman noticed immediate discomfort in his mouth. He couldn’t speak as well and was sent to ILS hospital. The batter had edema and sores in his mouth, but his vital signs were reported to be stable.

In an official statement, Manoj Kumar Debnath, manager of Business Development at ILS Hospital, acknowledged that the 32-year-old was suffering from oral irritation and swelling on his lips.

“After being assessed by the consultants of the hospital in emergency, he was admitted. For now, he is clinically stable and is being constantly clinically monitored.”

IndiGo responded to Mayank Agarwal’s illness after drinking liquid on flight

IndiGo has published an official statement on the incident involving Mayank Agarwal. The airlines stated in their news announcement, as reported by PTI:

“IndiGo flight 6E 5177 operating from Agartala to Delhi returned to origin due to a medical emergency onboard. The passenger was off-loaded and was rushed to the hospital for further medical assistance. The aircraft took off again for its destination at 1620h.”

Mayank Agarwal, 32, has played 21 Tests and five One Day Internationals for India, scoring 1,488 and 86 runs, respectively. He has four hundreds and six fifties in Tests, with an average of 41.33 and a top score of 243.

In first-class cricket, the right-handed hitter has played 98 matches, amassing 7,430 runs at an average of 45.86, with 17 hundreds and 40 fifties.
