Jhulan Goswami, a great Indian fast bowler, will be involved in the action during the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) by serving as a coach for the Mumbai franchise. The WPL will be played in India. Reports indicate that the former bowler will be participating in the debut season in the roles of both a coach and a mentor.
Reportedly, Jhulan has accepted a position with the Mumbai franchise as a bowling coach and mentor. Sourav Ganguly, the current president of the BCCI and a former captain of India, has confirmed the news. At Eden Gardens, Ganguly informed the press that “Jhulan has gone to Mumbai.” Ganguly is the director of cricket for the Delhi Capitals, which he joined the previous year. The franchise that is based in Mumbai has yet to confirm that Goswami has been appointed to a position on their backroom staff. The fast bowler’s experience, accumulated throughout a career that lasted for twenty years, lends a great deal of value to the team in terms of preparation for the inaugural season of WPL.
After playing for Bengal and India as a player-coach and a mentor player, Goswami is now retired from cricket and has coaching experience. Her retirement was on September 2022. Jhulan Goswami, who has been Mithali Raj’s longtime teammate and is the all-time highest wicket-taker in women’s one-day international cricket, is going to join the Mumbai-based franchise after the former India captain and great batsman, Mithali Raj, joined the Gujarat Giants (Ahmedabad team) as a mentor.
