During the recent Test in Hyderabad, Jasprit Bumrah, an Indian speedster has been given one demerit point. He made improper physical contact with England’s Ollie Pope. Jasprit Bumrah admitted to the fault, which happened in England’s second innings.
In the 81st over, Ollie Pope snuck a leg-bye during Bumrah’s turn at bowling. This was on the fourth delivery of the over. Just before that, Pope scored a splendid four. Bumrah, in an effort to retaliate, altered his length. He successfully tricked him, causing the ball to strike the batsman on his thigh.
Pope was attempting to switch positions with non-striker Rehan Ahmed. Interestingly, he ran into Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit seemed to purposely position himself in Pope’s path. After everything was over, Jasprit Bumrah admitted what he did. Richie Richardson, the match referee, approved the punishment.
The ICC sent out a message about this. Jasprit Bumrah broke rule 2.12 from the ICC Conduct Code for Players and Player Support Personnel. This was his first mistake in the past two years. If he makes three more errors in the next two years, he’ll face suspension. This could mean missing a Test or two limited-match games.

As Ollie Pope returned to the changing room, Bumrah and the other Indian players praised him on his outstanding batting effort. Many commentators viewed Pope’s 196-run innings as the best by an Englishman in a Test on Indian soil.
