The first game of a four-match Test series between India and Australia will be played on February 9 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. There will be three more games in the series, and they will be played in Delhi, Dharamsala, and Ahmedabad.
It’s imperative that the home team win the series by a comfortable margin if they want to go to the ICC World Test Championship final. Despite being in a near-perfect position to advance to the WTC Final, Australia must avoid a 4-0 series deficit if they are to advance.
In 2017, India defeated Australia in a three-game Test series in India. On Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium, the hosts clinched the series with an eight-wicket victory in the series’ last match. The Indian team didn’t include Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli in their starting lineup.
Openers – KL Rahul and Murali Vijay
KL During that game, Rahul and Murali Vijay started the batting for their respective teams. During both innings, Rahul hit fifty, which was a major factor in India’s triumph. While in Dharamsala, Vijay did not have a good time. His final scores after two innings were 11 and 8.
Since Vijay recently announced his retirement, Rahul has taken over as the Test team’s vice captain.
Middle Order – Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (c), Karun Nair and Wriddhiman Saha (wk)
Due to Virat Kohli’s injury, Ajinkya Rahane led India in that match against Australia. Rahane ended the game with 46 runs and 38 points. While Karun Nair and Wriddhiman Saha struggled to put up large scores, Cheteshwar Pujara backed him up with a 151-ball 57 in the first innings.
The Indian Test squad no longer includes Rahane, Nair, or Saha, while Pujara maintains his position as the team’s No. 3 hitter.
All Rounders – Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin
The Indian team won the match at the HPCA Stadium, and Ravindra Jadeja was a major reason why. In the first innings, Jadeja took one wicket for 57 runs, while in the second innings, he took 3 wickets for twenty runs. As an ally, Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets in two innings.
India’s next Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia will include both Jadeja and Ashwin in their lineup.
Bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav were the leaders of the Indian pace bowlers in that Test. Together, the two Indian fast bowlers took seven victims across two innings. Against Australia in Dharamsala, Kuldeep Yadav played in his first Test match. The left-handed wrist spinner took four wickets in his first Test, which caught the Aussies by surprise.
India will field Umesh and Kuldeep in the forthcoming series against Australia. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not participated in a Test for India since 2018.
