The veteran Indian Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara has said that Australia captain Pat Cummins is the toughest bowler he has faced in his entire career. Pujara has added that Pat Cummins is the hardest to face in Australian conditions. Pujara has played against many bowlers who could be called the best of their generation throughout his long & distinguished career in Test cricket. However, some of his most memorable battles have come against Australia in Test matches. He is preparing for the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy test series between India and Australia, starting on February 9 at Nagpur.
Pujara has played some of the best matches of his career against the Australian Cricket Team. Most notably, he played an epic inning in India’s comeback after a massive defeat in the 1st Test against Australia in the 2016-17 series with great continuous knocks, including 525-ball innings in which he made 202 runs. The Australian Test captain, Pat Cummings, has been ranked the top Test bowler globally for almost four years. Cummins is all set to play a vital role for the Australian team when they tour India for 4-Test matches next month. However, the veteran Indian batter, Cheteshwar Pujara, had also said that he would have loved to face Australian bowling legend Glenn McGrath when he was asked to choose a bowler from the past whom he would like to meet on the field.
The year 2022 was quite good for Cheteshwar Pujara. He had a dream County season for Sussex, where he successfully scored his first Test hundred in over four years against Bangladesh. Also, Pujara’s last Test hundred before the Bangladesh series came against Australia during the Border Gavaskar Test series in the year 2019 post that the veteran went through a considerable setback and lost his spot in the Indian team.
Cheteshwar has also recently made 222 runs in 2-match Test series in Bangladesh, where he played at an average of 74. His innings included 102 (not out) and 90. Pujata also scored 91 runs for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy season 2022. Also, in the 2022 Tests, he made an enormous 409 runs in 5 matches playing at an average of 45.44. Said matches include one century and three half-centuries. Given his stats, Cheteshwar Pujara will be a big wicket as Team India looks to beat Australia for the fifth time (Test series) in a row in their backyard.
