Ex-cricketer Harbhajan Singh thinks Team India could opt for four main spinners in the second Test. This is one of five home matches they’re playing against England.

His opinion is based on the pitch condition. If it’s spinning, The Men in Blue might choose to leave out pacer Mohammed Siraj for an additional spinner. This viewpoint came to light in Harbhajan’s recent YouTube recording.

“From the squad India have picked, I am expecting it to be a turning wicket. If it is going to turn even more than what we saw in the first match, There is a possibility of India playing four spinners, with Jasprit Bumrah being the only fast bowler.”

Harbhajan argued that the hosts should attempt to prepare a better surface for the second Test, given their inexperienced batting lineup, saying:

“I sincerely hope that the pitch will be better than what we saw in Hyderabad. India have a young batting lineup, and we should give them a chance to get some runs under their belt. It will benefit India if a good pitch is prepared.”

In Hyderabad’s first Test on Day 4, India faced a challenging situation. They scored only 202 and tumbled to a defeat by 28 runs. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, key players, can’t join the second Test due to injuries, adding to the challenge.

The first Test against England didn’t show significant results from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, Indian cricket players. Their performance saw critique.

The second match requires improvement from these young players, says Harbhajan Singh. Especially significant, given that Ravindra Jadeja, in top form, and KL Rahul won’t play.

Rohit Sharma, team leader, needs to score big, noted the former cricketer, Singh, who now comments on games. His thoughts:

“Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer have performed underwhelmingly in the last few innings. With KL Rahul ruled out, the onus is on them to score big runs. Rohit Sharma will also have to give a good start at the top for India to score around 300 runs in the first innings.”
