At the beginning of the first of the four-match series against India, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith of Australia were in a difficult position of 2/2 after 13 balls. But they managed to maintain their innings until Lunch, reaching 76/2. Nonetheless, India’s Ravindra Jadeja-led attack rose to the challenge after the break.
Jadeja’s first wicket of the game happened during the 36th over of Australia’s batting. Labuschagne, the top-ranked Test batsman, reached out to drive Jadeja and missed as the ball spun sharply. The catch went to Bharat, and when the wicketkeeper broke the stumps, Labuschagne was unable to return to the crease and had to depart after scoring 49.
