Dinesh Karthik has compared Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar and opening batsman Shubman Gill. According to Karthik, Gill shares similarities with Tendulkar regarding his technique, particularly his tendency to stand tall at the crease. Karthik also highlighted how Gill’s quick bat speed has helped him to get on top of the ball, just like Tendulkar used to do. Overall, Karthik sees similarities between the two right-handed batters and their approach to the game.

Karthik explained how the two right-handed batters compare to each other. He said:

“There are many similarities, technically. You know, the positions they get into, tall batters. Sachin Tendulkar is not tall but stands tall at the crease and is always on top of the ball. Shubman Gill is very similar, with high hands, and he has this trigger movement where he goes back and across and waits for it.”

“That’s why you see sometimes he might inside edge it because of his bat swing. But there needs to be more movement on flat tracks. The speed at which he brings the bat down makes him special.”

On Day 3 of the ongoing fourth Test against Australia in Ahmedabad, Shubman Gill put in an impressive performance with the bat, scoring a fantastic 128 runs in India’s first innings. Fans quickly heap praise on the young batsman for his stellar innings.

Dinesh Karthik comments on Shubman Gill’s short-arm jab on the offside, calling it a unique variation of the square cut.

Dinesh Karthik has compared Shubman Gill’s technique of playing the square cut to that of Virender Sehwag and Kumar Sangakkara. While the latter two used to cut towards the gully region, Gill’s shot is more of a short-arm jab in front of the backward point. Karthik noted that Gill’s square cut is unique and has a crisp sound. Gill was not included in the playing XI for the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series but made a strong comeback in the fourth Test, scoring a century.
