Shahrukh Khan’s batting was remarkable for Gujarat Titans. The all-rounder smashed 58 runs off just 30 deliveries. This powerful knock came against Royal Challengers Bangalore. GT faced RCB in an IPL 2024 match on April 28. The venue was Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shahrukh was elevated to No. 4 when skipper Shubman Gill was fired, seemingly in accordance with head coach Ashish Nehra’s plan. The strategy worked brilliantly, which may explain Nehra’s impassioned reaction as the Tamil Nadu all-rounder completed his first IPL fifty.

Shahrukh Khan tore at all-rounder Cameron Green, hitting two boundaries and a six over long-on to reach his half-century. Here’s a video of his carnage versus Green, followed by Ashish Nehra and others celebrating in the GT dugout:

Shahrukh came out to bat when the Titans were 45/2 in the seventh over and needed a boost in their innings. His knock provided the hosts with the impetus they were badly seeking.

When GT struggled in the powerplay, Faf du Plessis’ choice to bowl first appeared to be a wise one. The hosts’ decision to send Shahrukh Khan at No. 4 indicated a feeling of urgency, since the Tamil Nadu all-rounder was mostly deployed as a finisher.

Shahrukh’s promotion put impetus into Gujarat’s innings while also allowing Sai Sudharsan to boost the ante at the other end. The two contributed 86 runs for the third wicket, and when Shahrukh was bowled, the Titans had a solid foundation to build on.

Sudharsan’s 84* from 49 balls, along with Miller’s strong cameo, saw GT end on 200/3 in 20 overs. RCB has lost skipper Faf du Plessis, but they still have Virat Kohli in the middle and will need the ace hitter to bat well again.
