SA vs WI 2nd T20I Highlights: At Centurion’s SuperSport Park on Sunday, the South African and West Indian cricket teams put on a show for their fans all around the globe. The West Indies batted first, putting up a respectable 258 runs in their 20 overs. South Africa then achieved the impressive task of chasing down the 259-run target in just 18.5 overs, breaking not one, but five records in the process:

1) Record for the highest successful run chase

South Africa set a new world record by successfully chasing a 259-run target in the shortest format of the game internationally. This surpassed Bulgaria’s successful run-chase of 246/4 against Serbia last year and Australia’s 244-run target against New Zealand in 2018, which were the highest successful T20I run-chases among Test-playing nations.

2) Record for conceding the highest number of runs in 2nd innings

Serbia had previously held the record for conceding the highest amount of runs in the second innings of a T20I match. Last year, in a match against Bulgaria, Serbia conceded 246 runs. However, West Indies has now broken this record, with 259 runs given away in just 18.5 overs during their match.

3) Johnson Charles scored the fastest T20 hundred for WI

Johnson Charles put on an impressive show while batting at number three for the visitors, scoring an incredible 118 runs off just 46 balls. His striking was remarkable, with ten fours and eleven sixes–shattering Chris Gayle’s record in the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup for the fastest T20I century for West Indies, which was set at 47 balls against England. Charles reached the three figures in just 39 balls.

4) Highest team total in the powerplay in a T20I

Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks kicked off their innings by hammering the Caribbean bowlers in the powerplay overs. The Proteas openers made history by piling up 102 runs in the first six overs, creating a new record for the highest team total ever in the powerplay of a T20I game.

The previous record was held by WI of scoring 98 runs in the powerplay.

5) Record for the highest aggregate
