As is customary in cricket, the side batting second in the 20-over game is given the opportunity to bat first in the Super Over. The Americans batted first and scored 18 runs off only six balls.

Pakistan entrusted Mohammad Amir with bowling the Super Over. However, the seasoned pacer ended up bowling three wide. Pakistan was also pretty sloppy on the field, which exacerbated the situation. As a result, the United States set a target of 19 runs.
