Cricket has conventionally been seen as a sport for refined gentlemen. All players constantly maintain a positive attitude and play the game in the spirit it was intended. But circumstances have led to some of the game’s most bizarre rules.

Here, we will go through some of the more stupid rules of cricket, most of which were unfamiliar.

1. It is not allowed for the batsman to hit the ball twice

Law 34 of cricket states that a batsman is out if they deliberately strike the ball twice with their bat before it touches any fielder. There are, however, two notable exceptions to the rule. If the batsman meets both of the following conditions, they are not out even after twice hitting the ball:

First, they hit the ball once and then hit it again to send it back to the fielder. (Before making contact with the ball with the bat or anything else, they must first get the fielder’s approval.)·   He attempts to protect his wickets by hitting the ball twice.

2. Rule of Appeal Withdrawal

According to Law 31.8 of Cricket, a fielding captain may withdraw an appeal after receiving permission from the umpire. Even though a batsman has been given out, the skipper can ask him to continue batting after getting confirmation from the umpire.

3. For kicking the ball beyond the boundary, there will be penalty runs

Five penalty runs are given to the batting team if a fielder deliberately kicks the ball over the boundary line.

4. Spider-Camera is not an alternate fielder

Play is stopped if the cricket ball lands on the spider cam above the ground, and a dead ball is declared.

5. Any physical Obstacle Serves as a Boundary

Any obstacle on the ground is deemed a boundary if both captains agree on its status before the toss. It is not a boundary if a dog or bird dives at the same time a batsman hits the ball and saves it, as this would be an act of pure luck. However, for immovable obstacles like a tree, agreement from both captains and the umpires must be counted as a boundary.
