SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head added to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) agony with a spectacular century in IPL 2024 on Monday, April 16.

His amazing 102 off 41 balls was brought to a stop by speedster Lockie Ferguson. Head sought to maintain the momentum and attempted to heave a good-length pass from Ferguson over Cow Corner. However, the southpaw was unable to center the ball and could only lob it straight up in the air.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis relaxed beneath the high ball and made a difficult catch seem easy. Here is the video of the dismissal:

Head hit nine boundaries and eight sixes in his remarkable performance, leaving the RCB bowlers with nowhere to hide. Once again, the SRH opener got his team off to a great start, setting the tone for the other big hitters to follow.

Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen help SRH break their own record

RCB would have believed Travis Head’s wicket would provide some relief. That was not to be, as Heinrich Klaasen stepped up and started striking where the Australian opener left off.

Klaasen scored 67 runs off 31 balls and created a key combination with Aiden Markram, precisely as they had done against the Mumbai Indians. The partnership ended when Lockie Ferguson caught Klaasen at short point with a low full throw outside off stump. Many people believed that the SunRisers would be unable to improve on their previous record of 277/3 versus MI.

However, Abdul Samad stepped out to bat and picked apart Reece Topley’s bowling. He and Markram ensured that SRH shattered their own record, scoring a massive 287/3 in 20 overs. This is also the greatest score ever recorded in franchise cricket.
