Star Indian batter Virat Kohli met with West Indian icon Wesley Hall ahead of his Men in Blues’ Super Eight matchup with Afghanistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup on Thursday, June 20. Before posing for the cameras, the two exchanged pleasantries, with Hall gifting Kohli with his book ‘Answering the Call’.

Hall embarke­d on a stellar journey with the We­st Indies from 1958 to 1969 gracing 48 Tests with his extraordinary tale­nt. The venerable­ 86yearold maestro clinched 192 wicke­ts showcasing brilliance with an average of 26.38 accompanie­d by an impressive nine instance­s of claiming fivewicket hauls.

The saga of the­ exceptional rightarm spee­dster unfolds as he ascends to le­gendary status securing an astounding 546 wickets across 170 re­markable outings.

Hall also informed ANI that he delivered the book to Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid, skipper Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli.

“I gave three books today. I gave a book to the captain and another one to the coach and Virat Kohli. All three of them are great players. It’s good to see people getting rewarded. Sometimes, you are a good player, and you haven’t made it. I think they have done very well for India.”

Answering the Call focuses on Hall’s cricketing journey and career, as well as how he became one of history’s greatest pacers. It was published in November 2022, with a second part issued earlier this year.

Following the Afghanistan game, the Men in Blue will face Bangladesh and Australia to finish their Super Eight schedule. Should Rohit Sharma’s Men finish in the top two of the four-team Group, they would advance to the semi-finals.

India’s first T20 World Cup triumph came in the inaugural edition, held in South Africa in 2007.
