Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Team India’s openers, had a mix-up during a run in the initial T20I match against Afghanistan. This match took place in Mohali on Thursday, January 11.

Despite being forced to bat first, the Afghan squad managed to reach 158/5 in 20 overs thanks to a forceful 42 off 27 balls from Mohammad Nabi.

After a miscommunication, Rohit Sharma was run out on the second ball of the innings, which gave India a bad start to their reply. He charged down the pitch, hit a drive towards mid-off, and signaled for a run. Gill stayed at the non-striker’s end and continued to monitor the ball. Due to the fact that both hitters were at the same end, the Indian skipper was unfortunately run out.

India won the match in 17.3 overs thanks to a brilliant half-century from Shivam Dube (60*), who led the chase.

Regarding the bitterly chilly temperature that prevailed at the stadium during the game, Sharma went on:

“I’m okay, when the ball hits the tip of the finger it always gets sore. I went inside to find the hot water bag and now it is better. It wasn’t the easiest of the conditions, the spinners did a good job and so did the fast bowler.”

“Dube and Rinku batted well. We want to bowl our bowlers in different parts of the game. We want to challenge ourselves, keeping all of them in mind, we will be trying all of this, but not at the cost of the game. All in all, it was a good game of cricket.”
