Suryakumar Yadav, a Team India batter, expressed satisfaction when Sarfaraz Khan was called up to the country’s Test team for the present series against England.

Sarfaraz Khan has worked hard on the local cricket circuit, accumulating a lot of runs in recent seasons. Despite his remarkable levels of consistency in FC cricket, the selectors repeatedly ignored him for the Test team.

Sarfaraz Khan had a breakthrough on Monday, January 29. He was called up to the Indian Test team, stepping in for an injured KL Rahul, for their second match against England. The decision on whether he or Rajat Patidar will take Rahul’s spot in the second Test in Vizag isn’t certain yet.

Suryakumar Yadav, upon hearing about Sarfaraz’s selection, expressed his joy on Instagram. Sharing a picture to his story, he displayed his happiness for his fellow Mumbai player.

“Happiest here. Maiden Indian call. Utsav ki tayyaarrii karo.

The first Test against England didn’t go as planned for Team India, with an unforeseen loss coming their way. To add to the situation, top performers Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are benched for the second Test in Vizag due to health setbacks. Sarfaraz Khan filled the spot left by Rahul; meanwhile, replacements for Jadeja were Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar.

The BCCI’s official comment on the subject reads:

“Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during play on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad while Rahul complained of a right quadriceps pain. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo. The Men’s Selection Committee have added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to India’s squad.”
