Shreyas Iyer, an Indian batsman, appears upbeat before the second Test versus England in Visakhapatnam. He doesn’t let his recent lack of high scoring affect his mood.

Shreyas Iyer posted images of himself getting into the swing of things in the nets and appearing to be playing aggressive shots on X, the platform that was once known as Twitter. One of the photos showed him laughing while still wearing his shoes, indicating that despite the shocking defeat in Hyderabad, spirits in the Indian camp had not dropped.

Just 131 runs have been scored by Shreyas Iyer in his last ten innings in Test cricket. Given the presence of untested local players such as Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar in the team, concerns over Iyer’s Test position have understandably been circulating among the cricket community.

But Vikram Rathour, India’s batting coach, has given Iyer and other somewhat inexperienced hitters their full support, believing that they would eventually turn out well. He said the following to media on Wednesday in Visakhapatnam:

“There are young batters in our team who have not played much Test cricket. So, we need to be a bit patient with them. Batters like (Shubman) Gill, (Yashasvi) Jaiswal and (Shreyas) Iyer will eventually start getting big runs, I’m sure of it.”

Virat Kohli’s unavailability added with the injuries to KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are likely to give India a pretty inexperienced batting assault within the second Take a look at in opposition to England in Visakhapatnam.

To guarantee that India bats effectively and has the best chance of squaring the series, players such as Iyer and Shubman Gill will need to stand up alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.
