On Tuesday, December 26, veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan sent his son Zoravar birthday greetings via an emotional Instagram post.

In the year 2014, Shikhar Dhawan and his former spouse Ayesha Mukherjee brought their baby Zoravar into the world. Dhawan has been living apart from his son for some time after divorcing Ayesha earlier this year.

It’s Zoravar’s ninth birthday on Tuesday, December 26. Shikhar wrote a sweet message to his kid on his own Instagram handle on this important occasion.

The cricketer, aged 38, talked about his inability to meet his friend for a whole year. Dhawan said they hadn’t been in contact for the last quarter of a year, leading him to social media. He penned:

“It’s been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I’ve been blocked from everywhere so Posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday. ????

“Even if I can’t connect with you directly, I connect with you through Telepathy. I am so proud of you and I know you’re doing great and growing up nicely.”

Shikhar Dhawan continued:

“Papa always misses you and loves you. He’s always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God. Be naughty but not destructive, be a giver, be humble, compassionate, patient, and strong.

“Despite not seeing you, I write you messages almost every day, asking about your well-being and daily life, sharing what I’m doing and what’s new in my life. Love you loads Zora ❤️ Papa.”

Over a year has passed since Shikhar Dhawan left the Indian cricket team because it appears that the selectors have moved on from him in all forms.

Stock value increases of young stars such as Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have influenced the choices made by selectors. Yet, Dhawan has not formally said goodbye to international cricket. His most recent appearance was in IPL 2023 leading the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

His first season as captain of PBKS was not happy as his side finished eighth in the IPL 2023 points standings.

For IPL 2024, Shikhar Dhawan was retained by the PBKS management, who remained confident in him. In the upcoming season, the southpaw wants to reward the team for its support with a much better performance.
