A year ago, on December 30, 2023, Team India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant experienced a terrifying car crash, getting multiple injuries. This past Thursday, December 29, the 26-year-old used social media to post a photo showing his legs during a workout. In the photo, you can see the scar from the crash.
This car crash was a big knockback for Pant, who was showing his best form at the time. But after getting medical treatment for his injuries, Pant has been gutsy in tackling his healing process head-on. Last year, the Indian stumper was involved in an accident after his car hit with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. When the accident occurred, the cricketer was alone in the car and smashed a window to escape.
The spirited player, well-known in the batting world, was recently spotted at the IPL 2024 auction. With him were team gurus – head coach Ricky Ponting and Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, Sourav Ganguly.
As per a report by ESPNcricinfo, the buzz is that Pant may finally return for IPL 2024. During his hiatus, IPL 2023 saw David Warner take the reins for the Delhi franchise.
Rishabh Pant duped of ₹1.63 crore by conman
Headlines hit when a keeper-batter became the victim of a ₹1.63 crore scam. The swindler, a 25-year-old past cricketer, posed as a government officer from Karnataka and lived large at posh hotels.
This imposter, named Mrinank Singh, was nabbed at Delhi Airport and thus arrested. Hailing from Faridabad, Haryana, he has a history playing U-19 cricket for the state.
“Business Standard” reports words from Ravi Kant Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-I (New Delhi):
“Cricketer Rishabh Pant was also conned by him to the tune of Rs 1.63 crore in 2020-2021. Initial analysis of his mobile phone revealed his acquaintance with young female models and contains multiple videos and photographs, among which some are highly objectionable.”
