Pant had won the Border-Gavaskar twice. He averaged 58.33 while scoring 350 runs for the Indian squad that made history by beating Australia for the first time in 2018–19. He was the best Indian batsman in the 2020/21 series, with 274 runs in 5 innings at an average of 68.50. Due to a car accident, Rishabh Pant suffered severe injuries. Cricket is out of the question for him until the Indian Premier League; even then, his participation is doubtful. His form in India would have made him a key player in the series.
2. Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar is an off-spinner and left-handed batsman. The all-rounder earned his Test debut in the decisive match in Brisbane’s Gabba. Although his contributions with bat and ball in the Test match were not well recognised, they were nonetheless significant. In the first innings, he made 62 runs and put together an essential 7th-wicket partnership of 123 runs with Shardul Thakur. Notably, he scored 22 runs off 29 balls in the fourth innings run chase and ended the Test with four wickets. In 2021, Sundar played in a Test series against England at home. Although he did not contribute much with the ball, he had a fantastic series at the bat. He has no business in the starting XI when the first-choice spinners are as good as they are. Because of his recent recovery from a shoulder injury, the administration will also be extra cautious.
3. Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur, India’s right-arm medium-fast bowler, was crucial in the Gabba Test. Multiple players in the fast bowling group were unavailable with injuries, so he received the nod. Thakur was making just his second Test appearance after his 2018 debut. In the first innings, Thakur had a total of three wickets. In the first innings, he put up a significant 67 runs and made an essential partnership with Washington Sundar, who was making his professional debut. He collected four wickets in the Indians’ second innings, bringing the score back within striking distance. Due to his batting skills and one Test in Asia in 2018, Thakur is India’s fourth fast bowler for international use. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav are more experienced bowlers, and Shardul is behind Mohammed Siraj for home Tests.
