In the IPL 2024 match on Tuesday, May 7, against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Delhi Capitals (DC)’ head coach Ricky Ponting gave never seen before reaction as he winked upon tail ender Rasikh Salam’s consecutive boundaries. Ricky Ponting came after the right hander hit two scoop shots for four off New Zealand’s’ Trent Boult to end penultimate over of DC innings. This happened while English feed commentators were heard praising the brilliant performance made by Ricky Ponting then, who replied with a wink.
Rasikh came in as an impact substitution and scored nine runs off three balls as his team finished 221/8 in 20 overs. Surprisingly, the 24-year-old only scored 42 runs in 11 innings, with an 80.76 strike rate. Ricky Ponting must have noticed something remarkable in the player from Jammu and Kashmir.
