Ricky Ponting, the coach of DeÂlhi Capitals (DC), expressed dissatisfaction with his teÂam’s display versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This was after theÂir IPL 2024 encounter at Visakhapatnam’s ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on April 3rd, WeÂdnesday.
DC’s bowling failed. KKR won by 106 runs, scoring 272-7, in Match 16. Ricky Ponting was unhappy. He said he felt awkward by DC’s poor bowling.

Batting first, KKR posted a massive 272-7 total, second-highest in IPL history. Delhi made only 166/all out in 17.2 overs. At the press meÂet, Ponting slammed DC’s weak oveÂrall effort.
“I was almost embarrassed with our first half of the game today – to concede that many runs. It took us two hours as well to bowl our overs, so we were two overs behind again, which means the guys bowling the last two overs only get to bowl with four fielders outside the circle.”

Ricky Ponting added:
“There are a lot of things that happened in this game that are unacceptable; we have to fix [them] immediately to go forward in this tournament.”

Sunil Narine led KKR with 85 off 39, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 54 off 27 in his first IPL innings.
Andre Russell contributed with a quickfire 41 off 19, while Rinku Singh hit 26 off eight. DC’s Anrich Nortje took 3-59 in four overs, while Ishant Sharma took 2-43 in three overs.

When asked what went wrong for the Delhi Capitals versus Kolkata, the head coach conceded that the squad has to make major improvements in several areas.
He did, however, point out that DC’s awful start with the ball placed them down significantly, making it incredibly tough for them to come back.
“They got off to a flying start in the powerplay. They were around 90 after six overs.
“That phase is not ideal; if that happens at the start of the game, then you are always trying to find your way back into the game and they didn’t allow us to do that today. They were relentless. We’ve got to be very critical on ourselves.”
