The trade window for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season is now open. During this time, franchises can buy or trade players in preparation for the auction, which will be place in Dubai on December 19.

The Indian Premier League 2024 trade window closes on Sunday, November 26th, and all ten organizations must submit their retention list prior to the auction. There hasn’t been much movement during the current trade window, with only a few of transactions taking place.

West Indies bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd was moved to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the first trade transaction of the forthcoming season. The 28-year-old, who has also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League, was moved to MI for his current market value of 50 lakh.

The second transfer was a swap agreement in which Team India pacer Avesh Khan was sent from Lucknow Super Giants to Rajasthan Royals (RR). In exchange, left-handed hitter Devdutt Padikkal was moved from RR to LSG.

Avesh was purchased by LSG for 10 crore during the 2022 mega auction, while Padikkal was purchased by RR for 7.75 crore during the same auction.

Shepherd has only played four IPL games so far, claiming three wickets at an average of 32.67 and an economy rate of 10.89.

The right-arm bowler played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2022 before joining LSG in 2023. In total, he has played 99 T20 games, claiming 109 wickets at an average of 23 and an economy rate of 9.02.

In terms of Ave­sh’s IPL performance, he has participate­d in 47 matches and taken 55 wickets. His ave­rage stands at 26.33, and his economy rate is 8.64. In the­ recent 2022 season, he­ impressed with 18 wickets from 13 game­s. However, in an earlie­r LSG tournament this year, he struggle­d, managing only eight wickets in nine matche­s, with an average of 35.38 and an economy rate­ of 9.76.

In his T20 caree­r, the 26-year-old has played 93 matche­s and taken 112 wickets. His average­ wicket tally is 24, and he has maintained an e­conomy rate of 8.22.

Looking at Padikkal’s IPL performance, he has appeared in 57 matches, amassing 1521 runs at an average of 27.65 and a strike rate of 125.39, with 189 fifties.

The left-hander had a dismal 2023 season, scoring 261 runs in 11 games for an average of 26.10. Devdutt Padikkal has 2768 runs in 92 T20 matches at an average of 33.34 and a strike rate of 133.52.
