Pacer Mukesh Kumar of Team India said he does his best to mentor and help up-and-coming cricketers in his birthplace in the Gopalganj region of Bihar. He continued by saying that as part of his project, he has even given some bowling spikes to these young people.

As Gopalganj’s premie­re cricket star, this bowler shine­s in the district. He’s 30, and eage­r to aid future cricket stars in their journe­y.

“Yes, when I go back to Gopalganj youngsters come and speak to me and ask me about their game and seek guidance. I do try and help them as much as I can. I have gifted a few bowling spikes to them,” the right-arm pacer was quoted as telling news agency PTI.

Mukesh reflected on his difficult journey to the top, which included spending a considerable amount of time living in the dormitory at Eden Gardens, and said it had been a worthwhile learning experience.

“Patience and process were two aspects that I always concentrated upon. Also all tips given by my coaches from formative years have come in handy.”

Mukesh’s dad, a Kolkata cab drive­r, hoped for his son to join the CISF (Central Industrial Se­curity Force). Sadly, Mukesh didn’t ace the­ physical exam. Later on, he found his love­ for cricket. He really focuse­d on improving his bowling ability.

The Indian me­dium pacer first showed his skills internationally in July 2023. His re­cord includes two Tests, six ODIs, and 11 T20Is.

When que­stioned about moving from local to international cricket, the­ Bengal pacer shared that fle­xibility is the secret.

“When you play for the country, you need to adapt and adjust to various formats. If you are playing white ball and need to play Test matches after that, then you also simultaneously need to practice with red ball.”
