MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is recognized for being a consummate team player who is always willing to contribute in whatever capacity. The ace wicketkeeper-batsman once again captivated hearts with his humility.

MS Dhoni was recently spotted assisting CSK support workers in transporting refreshments off the field during a practice session ahead of the team’s IPL 2024 opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday.

It is worth noting that MS Dhoni stepped down as CSK captain a day before the league began. Following an outstanding leadership performance, he has passed over the reigns to opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The reigning champions Chennai will face RCB at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, March 22, in what promises to be a thrilling first match of IPL 2024.

While MS Dhoni has stepped down as CSK captain, former India opener Wasim Jaffer expects the wicketkeeper-batsman to participate in practically all of the upcoming season’s matches.

He mentioned that CSK’s backup wicketkeeper is Aravelly Avanish, an inexperienced kid. Jaffer told ESPNcricinfo that Dhoni might miss a few matches this season.

“I see him playing most of this season. With the back-up wicket-keeper being an Under-19 player ( Aravelly Avanish), don’t want to throw him in right away. Probably the right time to retire would have been the last season, if at all he wanted to, after winning the championship. But now that he has returned, expect him to play a major role and help Ruturaj Gaikwad.”

MS Dhoni played all of CSK’s IPL 2023 games despite having a damaged knee. On most instances, he dropped down to No. 8 in the batting order.

However, he kept audiences delighted with spectacular appearances at the finale. He ended with 104 runs off 54 balls and a strike rate of 182.45 in Chennai’s fifth title-winning season.
