When the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) meet the Chennai Super Kings in the opening IPL 2024 match on Friday, director Mo Bobat is looking forward to watching a “fresh” Virat Kohli go out there and play his best cricket. The former performance director of the England team said that Kohli has been striking the ball really well.
Kohli didn’t engage in any cricketing activities since January. The former RCB captain opted out of the five-Test England series for the arrival of his second child. Therefore, supporters can anticipate immense eagerness from him when RCB confronts the reigning champions in Chennai on Friday.
The 40-year-old said before of Friday’s match that Kohli will benefit from his temporary break from cricket.
According to News18, he stated:
The cricketer is 35. He has scored most runs in IPL, 7263 in 229 innings. He plays for RCB since IPL started. In 2016, he scored 973 runs, highest in a season. This right-handed batsman tops run charts in IPL history.
“We’ve got a fantastic group of players” – Mo Bobat
Bobat feels the team has no choice but to go out and express themselves as best they can now that they have the chance to work with RCB for the first time. Bobat stated:
Royal Challengers thrice achieved finals glory, yet victory remained elusive. Faf du Plessis helms their charge, their quest: shatter that drought’s shackles this season.
