After Sunday’s five-match Twenty20 International series between Australia and India came to an end, Australian batsman Tim David and Team India’s Tilak Varma swapped jerseys (December 3). The Indian team captained by Suryakumar Yadav won the series handily, 4-1.

In order to survive, Australia overcame India in the third Twenty20 International after India had won the previous two matches. To close the series on a positive note, the hosts, however, overcame the visitors in the final two games.

Tilak Varma had a very quiet series against Australia after a brilliant start to his international career on the West Indies trip. He scored 12 (10), 7* (2), and 31* (24) before being dropped from the playing XI to make room for Shreyas Iyer. Tim David appeared in all five games for Australia, scoring 92 runs.

They both play for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL. Tilak came to Instagram on Tuesday to show a photo of himself and Tim David clutching one other’s shirts. He wrote in the caption:

“Exchanging love and jerseys ❤️ @timdavid8”

Tilak Varma, according to former Indian player Abhishek Nayar, has an excellent cricketing intellect and is a possible candidate for a leadership role in the future. In an interview with Jio Cinema, Nayar revealed that he learned about Tilak’s qualities from Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

Nayar stated:

“What you always see with Tilak is fearlessness. He is a young player but what I have always heard, Rohit Sharma often used to say that he is a great cricketing brain. Because when he plays for MI, he gives good suggestions to Rohit. That part of Tilak is going to be great for Indian cricket.”

Abhishek Nayar continued:

“Tilak Varma brings two dimensions of his game to the team. Yes, fielding is a part of it and yes, he can bowl, but what is really important when I say two dimensions are his batting and leadership skills.”
