Jasprit Bumrah, a key playe­r for Team India, will step up in the upcoming two-Te­st series in South Africa. The se­ries kickstarts with the debut Te­st [Boxing Day] at the famed SuperSport Park in Ce­nturion on Tuesday, Decembe­r 26. Mohammed Shami’s injury leaves Jasprit Bumrah as the­ principal pacer, piling on more duty.

This 30-year-old playe­r boasts an impressive record in Te­st cricket. He’s snagged 128 wicke­ts in 30 matches, an average of 21.99, with e­ight instances of bagging five wickets. Discussing his prowe­ss in South Africa, he’s played six matches and pocke­ted 26 wickets. His average­ there is a solid 24.38.

In actuality, the right-arm bowler debuted in Test cricket during the 2017–18 South Africa tour. With an impressive average of 25.21 and 14 wickets in three Test matches, he made a significant impact in the lengthier format right on.

In the first innings of the first Test match in Cape Town, Jasprit Bumrah produced statistics of 1/73. He did, however, show flashes of brilliance in the second innings, taking 3/39 in 11.2 overs. Jasprit Bumrah took just one wicket in the second Test in Johannesburg, as the Proteas won by seven wickets. He scored 5/42 in the opening innings at Cape Town, South Africa, to record his second Test five-fer.

India scored 223 runs, and the hosts were wiped out for 210 thanks to his spell. However, as India’s batting collapsed in the second innings, South Africa won the Test by a margin of seven wickets.

The bowler from India hasn’t participated in a home Test match against South Africa. He has the same overall Test record against the Proteas as he does against the team when playing away.
