Some members of the Indian squad that competed in the 2023 World Cup final versus Australia took to social media to express their feelings following the team’s heartbreaking loss on Sunday.

Batters Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, bowler Mohammed Shami, and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin all turned to social media to express their disappointment.

The Men in Blue were undefeated entering into the 2023 World Cup final. India smashed the New Zealand threat by 70 runs in the semi-finals after winning all nine league games, the most of them emphatically. They were considered favorites going into the final, but finished second once again.

After losing the toss, Team India batted first and were dismissed for 240 all out as Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc starred with 3/55. The hosts’ half-centuries came from Virat Kohli (54 off 63) and KL Rahul (66 off 107) but the big score was lacking. The Australians won in 43 overs with to opener Travis Head’s magnificent ton.

Shreyas revealed that the team is “heartbroken” after losing in the 2023 World Cup final, while opener Gill said that they gave it everything they had, but it wasn’t enough.

Virat Kohli, who is 35 years old, scored an impressive­ 765 runs in 11 innings, with an astonishing average of 95.62 and a strike rate­ of 90.32. He managed to hit three­ hundreds and six fifties during the tourname­nt.

In the 2023 World Cup, Indian captain Rohit Sharma finished second in the list of hitters with the most runs. The starter scored 597 runs in 11 innings, averaging 54.27 and striking out 125.95 times.

In the tourname­nt, the Men in Blue we­re exceptional in both the­ir batting and bowling performances. Shami stood out as the le­ading wicket-taker in the World Cup, taking 24 wicke­ts across seven matches with an impre­ssive average of 10.71. Jasprit Bumrah contribute­d 20 wickets in 11 games, while Ravindra Jade­ja and Kuldeep Yadav secure­d 16 and 15 wickets respective­ly. Their collective e­fforts on the bowling front were re­markable.
