Ishant Sharma, ace bowler for the Delhi Capitals (DC), got a coveted scalp by removing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul early in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. The right-hander failed to make an impression in the 200-plus chase, scoring only five runs off three balls.

The expulsion occurred during the first over of the Super Giants’ run chase. Ishant Sharma delivered an outswinger outside off. Before hitting the bat, the ball became caught on the surface for a brief period. KL Rahul moved ahead to the loft but lost his bottom hand as it arrived later than intended. The ball rose high in the sky. Mukesh Kumar returned from cover point to complete the catch on his second try.

At the moment of drafting this the Super Giants faced adversity at 24/3 after 3.1 overs with Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran standing strong. Notably except for KL Rahul both Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis left the scene scoring 12 (8) and 5 (7) runs respectively.

DCs victory in the impending match holds the key to their survival in the fiercely competitive IPL 2024 playoffs in my earnest belief.
