South Africa scored 399/7 in their allocated 50 overs thanks to a clinical batting effort. Aside from Heinrich Klaasen, Reeza Hendricks (85), Marco Jansen (75*), and Rassie van der Dussen (60) also made significant efforts. Aiden Markram, the stand-in captain, also provided 42 points.

With stats of 3/88, Reece Topley was England’s most successful bowler. Meanwhile, Gus Atkinson and Adil Rashid both took two wickets.

After 13 overs, England were 74/6 with David Willey and Adil Rashid at the crease.

Lungi Ngidi’s dismissal of Jonny Bairstow (10 off 12) was the first breakthrough. Then, Marco Jansen cheaply returned Dawid Malan (6 off 11) and Joe Root (2 off 6).

Ben Stokes was caught and bowled for five runs, giving Kagiso Rabada the crucial catch.
