Faf du Plessis, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), took an incredible catch to dismiss Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Hrithik Shokeen during the match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Faf du Plessis, widely reputed as one of the best in the world, added one more memorable catch to his long list of amazing field performances.

Hrithik Shokeen, the all-rounder, came out to bat at number eight in the Mumbai Indians’ season opener against the Royal Challengers. In the 18th over of MI’s innings, Shokeen attempted a big shot off Harshal Patel’s bowling towards the off-side but couldn’t properly connect with the ball. Despite clearing the 30-yard circle, it did not get enough distance to clear the field. RCB captain Faf du Plessis, positioned inside the 30-yard zone, made a fantastic dive to complete the catch.

After Hrithik Shokeen’s departure, Arshad Khan stepped up and formed a crucial stand of 48 runs with Tilak Varma for the eighth wicket. Thanks to their effort, MI managed to finish the first innings with a score of 171/7 in their 20 overs, with Varma staying unbeaten at 84 runs. Speaking to the commentators post-match, Varma stated:

“My plan was to adjust to the wicket and see how it was doing. It was holding slightly in the start. So, I thought I wanted to take my time and see how it goes. I always back my intent and my shots.”
