MS Dhoni and Mustafizur Rahman, current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) colleagues, collided while playing for India against Bangladesh in 2015.
Ironically it marked Mustafizurs entry into the Bangladesh cricket scene while MS Dhoni was still calling the shots for Team India. The match that steals the spotlight was the kickoff ODI of the threematch series in Mirpur right after the teams clashed fiercely in the 2015 ODI World Cup quarterfinal.
India was chasing a mammoth target of 308 runs when the tragedy occurred in the 25th over. Dhoni went for a fast single after playing the delivery to mid-off, but Mustafizur Rahman appeared to step across the batter’s path.
Dhoni ran into the left-arm bowler and pushed him out of the path with his forearm. Mustafizur had been involved in a similar incident with opening batsman Rohit Sharma earlier in the innings.
While the collision was not as serious, the current Indian captain was not pleased and pointed his finger at the Bangladesh bowler.

Unfortunately for India, Mustafizur got the last laugh, scoring 5/50 to lead Bangladesh to a 79-run victory.
The rookie had a series to remember, taking 13 wickets in three games as Bangladesh defeated India 2-1.
However, for this altercation, both players were penalized, with Dhoni receiving 75% of his match money and Mustafizur receiving 50%.
Mustafizur Rahman’s Heroics Lead CSK to Opening Win
In the present, Muztafizur Rahman helped MS Dhoni’s CSK win their IPL 2024 season opener against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai on Friday, March 22.
Mustafizur Rahman, aged 28, went for ₹2 crore in the auction. He played for Delhi Capitals before. Mustafizur had a great start against RCB. He took two wickets in his first over when RCB scored 41/0. In his next over, he got two more wickets. RCB’s innings was ruined by Mustafizur’s brilliant bowling spell.
With important wickets from Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, and Cameron Green, Mustafzur helped limit RCB to a disappointing 173/6 on a batting paradise. The home team easily finished the run chase, winning by six wickets in the 19th over to enjoy a flawless start to their season.
Muztafizur Rahman was named Player of the Match for his game-changing burst of 4/29 in four overs.
