In the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), Mukesh Choudhary was a key contributor for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a left-arm swing bowler. Despite an economy rate of 9.32, Choudhary was an annihilating asset to CSK during the powerplay overs in the absence of Deepak Chahar. Last year, in 13 games, he took 16 wickets, and he impressed skipper MS Dhoni with his control and skill.

However, it has been reported that CSK is pessimistic about being able to rely on Choudhary’s services this season. Injuries have kept the young swing bowler out of action since December, and it looks like he won’t be able to play in the IPL 2023. CSK could sign one of the many promising young left-arm swing bowlers. There is also an extensive list of names to choose from if they prefer someone with more expertise.

1. Dhawal Kulkarni

One of the most seasoned fast bowlers is Dhawal Kulkarni. The 34-year-old has been in the league since its inception and has played for three different teams.

Since the 2016 IPL season, in which he claimed 18 wickets in 14 games at an economy rate of 7.42, Kulkarni has yet to have much success in the IPL. Since then he has taken only 13 wickets while he got to play only 2 games in the last 3 seasons.

Despite this, Kulkarni is still a tricky fast bowler who has the potential to fill MS Dhoni’s expectations at CSK. At Chepauk Stadium, his ability to swing the new ball and his arsenal of cutters could prove crucial. Hence, a move by the veteran fast bowler to the Men in Yellow wouldn’t be surprising.

2. Ishan Porel

Unexpectedly, Ishan Porel was not purchased by any franchise during the IPL 2023 auction. The fast bowler from West Bengal played three seasons with the Punjab Kings (PBKS), during which he experienced limited participation.

Porel played in only one game for PBKS, during which he took one wicket while also allowing 39 runs. He has played in 20 T20 matches, taking 30 wickets at a remarkable economy rate of 6.71. Because of his height, Porel can control the movement and swing of his deliveries, which causes problems for the batting team. He may prove to be a prudent purchase for CSK, who can put his unique set of talents to good use.

3. Sandeep Warrier

For some time now, Sandeep Warrier has been one of the most intriguing players in domestic and IPL. The 31-year-old fast bowler has taken two wickets for KKR in five games, with a reputable economy rate of 7.88. On the Men in Blue’s 2021 COVID-plagued tour of Sri Lanka, he debuted for Team India. Warrier could be interested in joining CSK because of his present team, Tamil Nadu, in domestic cricket. To date, he has appeared in 68 T20 games, racking up 62 wickets at
