After suffering a stress fracture and a quad grade 3 tear, Chahar, 30, has difficulty getting back on his feet. In India’s second One-Day International match against Bangladesh in Mirpur in December, he collapsed after bowling three overs. India’s fast bowler Deepak Chahar, who missed significant time last year due to two “major” ailments, claims to be healthy and ready to return on March 31 for the start of the IPL.

As a result of his injuries, Chahar was limited to just 15 games for India in 2022 and didn’t even get to compete in the T20 World Cup. After a lengthy rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, Chahar prepares to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

Chahar played a first-class match against Services last month, marking his return to competitive cricket. But that was his previous participation in the Ranji Trophy. After falling down the Indian roster due to a string of injuries, he still hopes to play in this year’s One-Day International World Cup.

“I have been working hard for the past two or three months on my fitness; I am fully fit and preparing well for the IPL,” Chahar told. My two major injuries were… Among them were a stress fracture and a quadriceps tear of grade 3. Both of these are devastating wounds. You’re going to miss a significant amount of time. It takes time for anyone to return from an injury, especially fast bowlers.

“If I were a batter, I would be playing way back, but as a fast bowler, it is very tough to get back on track when you have a stress fracture. You can see other bowlers struggling with the back as well.”

“I don’t care who is playing, who is not playing; I aim to get fully fit and perform with the ball and bat 100%. If I do that, I will get my chances.”

Chahar is enthusiastic about the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL), which will precede the men’s Indian Premier League (IPL).
